This is one of my favorite books, so it's a re-read for me but it's one I'll always return to.

A beautiful memoir that was written during the AIDS crisis. Highly recommend.

Set in a post-apocalyptic New York City, a young girl sets out on a very dangerous adventure with her robot guardian to find a way to save her only friend in the world, her loyal dog. Throughout, we encounter dangerous robots, diseased humans, and the fear and greed of the people remaining. We begin to wonder, what separates us from the monsters? What does it really mean to be human?
